Today’s market is flooded with different types of engineered boards with advantages and disadvantages. With so many options available, choosing the right board for your spaces is often a tough decision. Two of the most popular boards are HDHMR board and Particle board.
Suppose you ask us whether you should consider HDHMR board over Particle Board (LDF) or vice-versa. Before concluding, we suggest you understand the product inside out and learn about its advantages and disadvantages. Here’s a quick overview of both to help you decide which will work best for you.
What are HDHMR board?
HDHMR boards are engineered wood made from wood chips & wood fibers, making them eco-friendly and sustainable. HDHMR material is denser and more rigid than any other fiberboard, making it an ideal choice for furniture and home interior that require a lot of wear and tear. HDHMR furniture is believed to stay strong for a long.
Another benefit of the HDHRM board is that it doesn’t warp or crack like other wood when exposed to moisture or heat because it’s been treated with wax and resin, making it more durable than particle boards.
What are Particle board?
LDF, or low-density fibreboard, is made from wood sawdust and glue. It is then compressed to form a sheet. It consists of three layers: two outer layers of paper, which are coated with either plastic or melamine on one side, and the core layer, which includes the sawdust particles. The laminate coating protects the other layers from damage.

Particle Board Features |
HDHMR boards have a polished surface that gives them a smooth and glossy shine. | The particle board material has a smooth surface making it look appealing and shiny with or without paint. |
HDHMR boards are stronger & durable than any other material. | Particle boards are not so strong & have low durability than HDHMR boards. |
HDHMR boards are termite & borer-resistant. | Particle boards are also termite & borer-resistant. |
HDHMR boards release less formaldehyde fume. That means it’s safe for both environment & homes. | Particle boards made with sawdust make it environment-friendly. |
HDHMR boards stand for High-Density High Moisture Resistance, meaning they are moisture resistant. | The particle boards are affordable but can be vulnerable to moisture and disintegrate if exposed to water. |
