Medium-density fibreboard is an engineered wood product made by breaking down hardwood or softwood residuals into wood fibres and combining it with wax and a resin binder, and forming it into panels by applying high temperature and pressure. MDF is generally denser than plywood. It is made up of separated fibres, but can be used as a building material similar in application to plywood. It is stronger and much denser than particle board.

For most of the applications MDF is better than Plywood as it has homogenous surface and is denser and economical than plywood. Also you can finish MDF the way you want it. You can use MDF like natural wood whereas Plywood has limitations due to it its structure.
MDF is homogenous, stronger, durable and economical than other boards. It is also eco-friendly and hence works better than other products.
Plain is a non-coated raw MDF product, whereas pre laminated MDF has a laminated sheet pasted on either one of the side or both.
Particle boards are made up by chipping raw materials into small pieces. It’s also known as a chipping board but is popular as Particle Boards.
No, unbranded MDF boards in the market are usually not waterproof, but you can use Century MDF boards for the kitchen as they are water-resistant.
No, it’s not required as Century MDF boards are termite and borer-resistant.
MDF boards are different because they are more homogenous, eco-friendly, durable and economical than other boards.
Yes, Century MDF is water-resistant.
Century Prowud boards are eco-friendly, stronger and more durable than any other boards. It is also termite resistant with 5 years of warranty.
Yes, we can use pre-laminated MDF in the bathroom. However, it is advised not to have direct contact with water on the bathroom furniture.
Wood is natural whereas MDF is made of fibre.
MDF is homogenous, denser and stronger than Plywood.
It is homogenous, eco-friendly, stronger, durable and economical than other boards.
There are different kinds of MDF available in the market. Century MDF is made with minimum use of formaldehyde for resins which is used as a glue for bonding fibres.
Depends on the applications in the market.
Particle boards have multiple uses like furniture, beds, kitchen etc.
Particle boards are cheaper than MDF and ply boards, and are used to make economical furniture.
Yes, if not maintained carefully, termites can eat particle boards. Whereas, termite-resistant boards reduce the chances of termite infestation.
In case of extreme moisture or water contact, the Particle board may get loose after a while.
The quality and specifications of MDF in India are defined as per Indian standards and are divided into two grades, Grade I and Grade II. Grade I material has more density and better water-resistant properties than Grade II. DIR means Densified Interior Range which conforms to IS Grade-II whereas DWR means Densified Water Resistant conforms to IS Grade-I specifications.
